You know, I always listen to this song when I lose someone I held close for so long…a friend, girlfriend, or a family member. But the beauty of this song reminds me that although it’s painful, it’s for the better. I realize this especially during Brubecks solo, but I realize the beauty of our time together through Desmond’s solo. Thank you gentlemen of the quartet, and happy listening everyone!

The sound of someone comping and jamming on a Fender Rhodes elec piano just never gets old, classic sound that I have loved ever since early elec jazz in the 70's
ct ou?
MARAVILHOSO ! 🇧🇷
Don't feel bad if you were there. You are blessed. I'm not religious. Except for music. music..
When I posted this video it was a different world. I sometimes come back to listen and think about the exact moment I uploaded. In the house was my teenage son who is longer with us, he passed away from a drug overdose. I miss him terribly, especially right now. I never really knew him. You ever feel so bloody lonely, just wishing for a bit of love, and the world keeps right on turning in its arbitrary way. No one’s fault, really, silent sigh…
Sfera ebbasta il mio nome è grande
who has its chords or backintrack
Paul Desmond’s solo on this one melts my heart ✌️
I didn't know this but Bob Holness was actually the fifth Dave Brubeck Quartet member. Had to drop out after a nasty accident with a Pee
How did we end up from this music (poetry) to trap “music”?
God bless the UA-cam algorithm, I have very eclectic tastes and it knows me better than the wife!
Me too! Without the wife.
It is a pity Dave is not British he would have a Knighthood, well he's in heaven now, god bless him!!
those fingers not only hit the G minor, BUt also the G spot Rip Davie B
Wow❤
You're walking around Brooklyn, or the Bronx in a time before it was raped Highways and depravity. The ground is damp, but the air is warm and fragrant with the smells of the city. Its about 2 am, and you're walking by family dwellings made of that lovely brown brick with the ornate patterns on the side of the buildings. The wet ground reflects the golden incandescent light coming from the windows of the buildings and the gas lit street lamps. A wooden trolley clatters by.
Money gang, finché siamo vivi siamo vivi (#SferaEbbasta #X2VR)
Did someone notice how everything is perfect in this version? One single wave of beauty. 4 musicians playing one into the other like one single entity. Even the gesture of Dave’s fingers on the piano and Paul delivering an unbelievable performance like he’s talking or just breathing, showcasing his best qualities climbing on peaks and slipping releases that make perfectly sense in this infinte magic hook. I’ve never had something like this with any song..where I feel it so much and I go with them on their wave. Great esteem for these quartet.
Intemporel. Ce morceau traverse le temps, toujours aussi mélodieux.
Quel son magnifique pour un enregistrement de 1964 ! Paul Desmond précis et émouvant. Brubeck audacieux et revigorant.
Never forget Koto song. With the fullness of your heart.
BLOWN AWAY WITH THIS ITS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !!!!! ❤❤

Holy crap
Never heard this before. Very beautiful!
I heard Dave play this live in the early 90’s at Binghamton University and my girlfriend (who is not a big fan of jazz) was absolutely rapt with tears streaming down her face. He had such a brilliant touch and sensitivity to tone
To think there's an even better version of this song somewhere on youtube - Paul Desmond's notes are even better
I thought his playing in the middle of the keyboard suggested a mixture of bright warm and cold colours interplaying.
Exceptional
Such a beautiful sound, those rolling Arpeggios really accentuate the sound of the Hirajoshi scale.
man the album version of this tune absolutely destroys me
Inimaginable
I wish for a better sound quality :)
How are you listening to it? I use a decent set of headphones and it’s fine.
That was an out of body experience for me...
Paul Desmond.... That's a bad mutha...shut yo mouth... I can set any mood with that dude...
new video pls
Jeff Goldblum as a younger man
Beautiful..
MUCH better audio quality in this vid: ua-cam.com/video/LCL5UCEu7Y4/v-deo.html
DiosDesmond, Paul Desmond was a genius, one of the greatest American musicians of all time, a gem of refinement and sublime poetic elegance.
That is one bad ass key killing mofo right there. What a beast. It gives me chills at the end every time.
Masterpiece by Masterclass of this artists...
someone needs to sample this
No, people need to stop "sampling" n create their own legacy like these geniuses. This is why modern music is so garbage n soulless. Big snoozefest.
actually the first time i heard this piece it was a trip hop remix made by Kilimanjaro darkjazz ensemble the original is still better though, especially live versions
Does anybody know which piece is Brubeck quoting at 3:37?
So fine
Intro is almost Banksian Genesis around 73-74. Hand over hand and such.p
❤️
Paul Desmond has enlightened my life.
No tengo palabras... les había oído pero, no había visto ningún video hasta hoy . Y si no me imagino que sería verlos en directo .¡ IRREPETIBLES!!👏👏👏
